Effects of tensile overload on fatigue crack growth in AM60 magnesium alloys

Abstract:An experimental study has been done to investigate the effects of tensile overload on crack initiation of AM60 magnesium alloy. The cycle number, in which the overload is applied, its magnitude, and multiplicity are investigated in this study. The fracture surfaces of CT specimens were analyzed using the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to investigate the effect of different overloads. The results show that applying tensile overload postpones the crack initiation.
