Personal Profile

Kai Zheng is a full professor with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from The University of Queensland in 2012. He has worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2012 - 2013) and ARC DECRA (Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award) Fellow (2014 - 2016) with the Data and Knowledge Engineering Group at The University of Queensland. His research interests include spatio-temporal data management, mobile data mining and recommendation, novel location-based services and applications, as well as general computationally intensive database problems. He was the winner of the Best Paper Award in ICDE (2015, South Korea) and Best Student Paper Award in Australian Database Conference (2014, Sydney). He served the General co-Chair of DASFAA 2017, Program co-Chair of APWeb 2016, and Program Committee for a few top-tier conferences including ICDE (2018), ACM SIGMOD (2016, 2015), ACM CIKM (2015, 2014), DASFAA (2015, 2013), etc. He is the guest editor for the Journal of WWW, Geoinformatica and Frontier of Computer Science. Kai has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, amongst which 47 papers appeared (or will appear) in top-tier conferences and journals in the area of data management.
