Lili Pan received her B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering and B.Ec. degree in finance from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), China, in 2004. She received her M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Engineering from UESTC in 2007 and 2012, respectively. From 2009 to 2011, she visited The Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), as a jointed educated Ph.D. student and was supervised by Fernando De la Torre Frade and Jason M. Saragih. She joined the UESTC faculty after graduation and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014. In 2016, she visited the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a visiting associate professor for six months.
She is currently working on computer vision and machine learning, specifically deep generative models, deep discriminative models, interpretable machine learning, Bayesian deep learning, and face-related analysis. In recent years, she has led many national and provincial-level research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Soft Science Research Program of Sichuan Province, and the projects from some Municipal Science and Technology Bureaus. She also participated in the State Key Program of NSFC, and the National Key Research and Development Program of China. She has received one first-class prize for the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award and one second-class and third-class prize for the Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award. She has published more than 30 papers in top journals, such as Neural Networks, TKDE, and Pattern Recognition, and top conferences, such as ICML, CVPR, ECCV. She is the primary instructor of the provincial first-class undergraduate course "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence" and the excellent graduate course "Machine Learning". Meanwhile, she has trained students to pursue further studies at prestigious universities at home and abroad, including Carnegie Mellon University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Glasgow, University of Southern California, as well as Tsinghua University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. and to work at well-known companies in China, including Baidu, Face++ and Hikvision, etc.
