Abstract:Emissivity variation introduces illusory temperature inhomogeneity and results in false alarms in inductive thermography. This letter proposed phase information to reduce and enlarge the effect of surface emissivity variation using inductive pulsed phase thermography. The phase spectra for the area directly heated by eddy current and the area indirectly heated by lateral heat conduction were analysed.
