Personal Profile

Dr. Kai Zheng is a full professor with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). He received Ph.D. (in 2012), Master (in 2009) and Bachelor (in 2006) degrees of Computer Science from The University of Queensland (UQ) (advised by Prof Xiaofang Zhou), Fudan University (advised by Prof Aoying Zhou) and Tongji University, respectively. Before joining UESTC, he has worked as Research Fellow (2012 - 2013) and ARC DECRA (Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award) Fellow (2014 - 2016) with the Data and Knowledge Engineering Group of UQ. His research interests and expertise cover the full stack of data management technologies including data storage, clearning, indexing and search, as well as many other challenging data intensive problems. He was the winner of the Best Paper Award in ICDE (2015, South Korea) and Best Student Paper Award in Australian Database Conference (2014, Sydney). He served the General co-Chair of DASFAA 2017, Program co-Chair of APWeb 2016, and Program Committee for over 10 top-tier conferences including KDD (2018), IJCAI (2018), ICDE (2018), ACM SIGMOD (2016, 2015), ACM CIKM (2015, 2014), DASFAA (2018, 2015, 2013), etc. He is the guest editor for the Journal of WWW, Geoinformatica and Frontier of Computer Science. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, most of which appeared (or will appear) in top-tier conferences and journals in the area of Big Data and AI.
