Abstract:The acoustic method, being the most effective method for cement bond evaluation, has been
used by industry for more than a half century. However, the methods currently used are almost
always focused on the first arrival (especially for sonic logging), which has limitations.We use
a 3-D finite-difference method to numerically simulate the wavefields from a dipole source
in a single-cased hole with different cement conditions. By using wavefield snapshots and
dispersion curves, we interpret the characteristics of the modes in the models. We investigate
